Imagine a 1.4-acre oasis in the heart of a shopping center and you have a picture of NorthPark Center’s new landscaped garden, CenterPark, an urban retreat providing a beautiful place to relax amid world-class sculpture, artful plantings, canopies of trees and green expanses of lawn. Designed around a series of lawns, this park doubles as a peaceful area for all to enjoy and an exciting new venue for private and community events. CenterPark also features the enormous Corridor Pin, Blue, 1999, by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. This 21-foot-tall stainless steel and aluminum sculpture is a large-scale representation of a safety pin magnified to architectural scale. Children of all ages will also delight in the zigzag walking path formed by Japanese boxwood hedges and beds of yellow flag irises and daylilies that are set into a shady grove of live oaks.
