Marc Bouwer= Glamour No comments yet

Hooray for Hollywood! Probably my favorite hair and makeup of all the shows…. just cuz it was big and fabulous! While there are designers who keep things simple and understated, I like a guy who thinks in COLOR. This mix just made me happy! Fuchsia, yellow, tangerine, orange, and no they are not the same color. Lots of billowing and bling; Short and long;simple cuts and gowns just this side of the boudoir. Nothing avant- garde and nothing you actually couldn’t see yourself wearing…or pieces you just didn’t get.Giant hoop earrings and the single adorned arm was all the jewelry they wore and it was plenty. If I had to pick, I would say the drapey green satin with just the right amount of smocking was my favorite… but then again I am a more is more kinda gal!

A week long Party is almost over… No comments yet

To be honest I am a little sad about it. Why can’t this go on every night? It really would be a fun venue for a non-stop fashion show…  I have seen this event from a few different angles this time. The first Fashion at the Park I was a guest, one show and I was hooked! Next, I  brought guests who had never been to a fashion show and had always wanted to be part of the excitement. Finally, I am behind the scenes ..sort of. I watch the audience come in… and it is as diverse as the designers are. I check out the vibe and watch the show and the crowd…it’s really a fun job! Besides shopping, people watchingis my favorite pass time :)

I am looking forward to the festivities tonight. It promises to be a great evening with live music and of course a fantastic runway show featuring Marc Bouwer designs. i do love these clothes, they kind of remind me of something a Bond Girl would wear… who doesn’t want to be a Bond girl???

Diesel No comments yet

Well let’s just say Diesel is all about jeans. There were dresses, leather jackets, nice sweaters for the men and even a denim tuxedo… but who really noticed after the UNDERWEAR showed up on the runway??? I mean really, the girls in boys briefs was cute and all, but the GUYS in thier skivies…UNBELIEVABLE… some of the most amazing, and yet minimal fashion yet. :) There were really some great jean cuts and I do like that almost any color works. I think all of the styles flattered, nothing baggy or falling off the rear… thank goodness! It is one of the hardest things  to find, a great fitting pair of jeans!

Rodarte, Barneys, ooooh. No comments yet

You gotta love a couple of sisters who have stuck to their creative guns no matter what. Really, I loved the fantasy style ballerina-gone-bad -wearing 5 inch platforms and a sparkle or two. I think the main thing is that what these ladies have created is a concept. Even if you are tempted to wear these ensembles head to toe, you may want to re think the shoes. It could be dangerous. The designers wanted the hair to be slick and basically “go away”, the makeup to be neutral and with a shock of orange on the eye and a stained lip.

Now you may say, ” No Way, I don’t look good with orange eyelids… here’s what you need to know:

1. It’s all about the CLOTHES… keep your make-up simple and don’t feel like you have to interpret it exactly. Less is more.

2. Wear a platform, but 5 inches are a bit much.

3. If you must own a piece of Rodarte…and you definitely should consider it, buy a gown…they are unbelievable works of art!

Ed Hardy. One in a million. No comments yet

If the last show made you want to go clubbing, this one made me want to go hang out in a pool hall. Only with some very good looking male friends wearing the Ed Hardy jackets. I have to say, a guy needs one of these… REALLY needs one. I like funky embellished jackets on guys… There is something about a rough and tumble look that gets me  going. The mens “lounge wear:”  was sexy and the womens? Well, let’s just say overly sexy? Garters? hmmm. What I did think was both sexy and entertaining was the “ripped-just-right” t-shirt done by the “custom guy” on the runway, while it was still on the model. Somehow my do it at home t-shirt modification NEVER looks that hot. Everyone, no matter who they are can relate to the biker-chic image and I must say, the black sequined hoodie with leggings to mach took it to the max! Fun stuff!

What you never heard of Lady GAGA?? No comments yet

That makes two of us.  She closed the runway show for Miss Sixty and brought it all to the stage! You can’t help dancing while you’re here, the dj and the runway and then LIVE club music. I enjoyed this crowd and the mix of people was the best yet. The problem for me is I am so influenced by the runway that I actually want to go out dancing… or on a trip, or who knows?? The next show is Ed Hardy, could there be a motorcycle in my future?

Party like a ROCK STAR with Miss Sixty! No comments yet

There are very few things that I wish I were 20 again for… Miss Sixty is now one of those things. WOW! Maybe you can’t find a good place to wear PINK FUR BOOTS, but you should really try. Some of the best pieces were the accessories: Corsette belts in Orange leather, denim and gold metallic. I have not been a big fan of the big belt under the bustline…but these are worth having and putting them with a flowing maxi-dress. ( glad the maxi dress wasn’t just for summer) Now, if you try all of these pieces…say the hats, the boots and the big belt you may look like a Bratz doll. However, if you pick one and wear it like you just stepped into the club scene, you will at least feel like you haven’t completely fallen out of touch!

It never fails… the most beautiful clothes in the line up cannot compare to the drop dead gowns. We are just lovers of drama and princesses at heart! Oscar did not dissapoint! Blush lingerie style gown with lace bodice and antique style jewelry… romantic and simple. The silver beaded colunm dress , drapey silver chiffon with pallettes… OMG! Most of us have one maybe two events to attend a year when we have to dress up… so why don’t we wear these around the house? I think the way to choose a gown is too think like a fairy princess…we just don’t have enough events to always go with black!

A great reason to plan a trip…. Oscar de la Renta’s resort collection No comments yet

Ok, for once I can actually feelthe heat at the same time the model is wearing a swimsuit … and although I have never actually worn an Oscar de la Renta swim suit, I can see myself in these one piece beauties! They seem a bit retro, and I like it. Color blocking, belted and COVERED!

Next up, the flirty resort party dress… flowers and bright prints are beautiful, but I prefer the black and white geometric prints with stand up ruffles… Amazing how fabric can literally make the dress. A simple shape , almost overly simple…and then the color CHARTREUSE! If you are planning a new dress for your wardrobe, I suggest moving away from the retro prints, and bubble dresses and take another look at the sheath dress… well fitted with great colors. Seriously, this is uber feminine and classic!
