Usher in the 2011 holiday season with the annual NorthPark Holiday Parade, which begins in NorthCourt and circles around the entire shopping center, bringing holiday cheer to one and all. Children and families are invited to join in the fun (and sing along, too!) as Santa Claus makes his ceremonial grand entrance with The Salvation Army Band and drummers, and a full cast of characters, including 9-foot-tall toy soldiers, Build-a-Bear's Bearemy®, Mrs. Fields' and Great American Cookies' Cookie Man, The Nutcracker's Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy and surprise guests, all marching along and singing to favorite holiday carols. At the conclusion of the parade, share in the giving spirit with the kickoff of The Salvation Army Angel Tree.

The holiday fun continues at NorthPark throughout the afternoon, from 1 pm to 4 pm, with music by Dallas String Quartet and fabulous giveaways. Now in its 13th year at NorthPark Center, The Trains at NorthPark™, presented by Bank of Texas, immerses visitors in a magical experience from the moment they walk through the door. Each holiday season, more than 80,000 visitors explore Texas' most elaborate toy train exhibit, featuring hundreds of miniature Lionel locomotives traveling on a journey across America's greatest cities and national landmarks. Proceeds from The Trains at NorthPark™ provide almost one-third of the annual operating budget for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

SCROOGE PUPPET THEATRE

Children of all ages giggle with delight as the witty, and sometimes unpredictable, Ebenezer Scrooge emerges from his half-timbered cottage at the bottom of every hour. Celebrating his 34th year at NorthPark, John Hardman of Le Theatre de Marionette uses puppetry to bring to life one of the most well-known misers in literary history from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Come back time and again for this ever-changing performance, and to see if Scrooge has a change of spirit just in time for Christmas.

THE SALVATION ARMY ANGEL TREE

Share in the joy of giving by providing gifts, clothing and necessities to children, seniors and disabled adults in need this holiday season. Choose an Angel from The Angel Tree and drop off your gift by December 12, and The Salvation Army will make your delivery in time for Christmas. Created in 1979, The Angel Tree is one of The Salvation Army's most important holiday efforts. NorthPark Angel Tree patrons have contributed nearly $2.5 million in donated Christmas gifts to almost 32,000 North Texans over the past five years.

THE SALVATION ARMY RED KETTLE CAMPAIGN

Bells are ringing at NorthPark for the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, which raises money to support year-round programs provided by The Salvation Army's 13 area centers. Every year, more than 25,000 Salvation Army workers and volunteers ring bells daily throughout the country to remind shoppers that this is the season of giving. We hope you will share in this annual holiday tradition at NorthPark Center, and help change lives with your spare change.


SPCA OF DALLAS HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS PET ADOPTION CENTER

Celebrating its 21st year, the SPCA Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Center at NorthPark has provided special adoption experiences for more than 6,000 four-legged animals and their loving new families. This year NorthPark Center hosts the SPCA's exclusive remote pet adoption center in all of North Texas, and features a storybook home-away-from-home for the animals. Assistance is offered at select times to help families choose the right animals for their lifestyle. Adoption fees are $185 to $285 for puppies 0-6 months, $95 to $195 for dogs 6 months and older, $75 for senior dogs 7 years and older and $50 for VIP dogs (those that have been waiting for a home for over 30 days); $125 for kittens, $95 for cats, $75 for senior cats 7 years and older and $50 for VIP cats. The fee includes spay/neuter surgery, all age-appropriate vaccinations, de-worming treatment, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older, initial heartworm preventative for dogs, a feline leukemia test for cats four months and older, a microchip and a free leash or cardboard cat carrier.

Make a wish and change a life for someone in need in your own community. Wishes are granted for families in need at the Holiday Wish Fountains benefiting the North Texas Food Bank. Toss a coin into the fountains, where 100% of your money is donated to the food bank year-round, or drop off non-perishable food items at convenient locations at the North and South entrances to NorthPark Center during the season of giving.

Welcome to the 2nd annual Gingertown Dallas at NorthPark Center, where the streets are paved in licorice and the lampposts are constructed of candy canes. Founded in 2006 by David M. Schwarz Architects, Gingertown is a unique holiday initiative which brings together talent from more than 25 local design, engineering and construction firms for a live build competition to help spread joy and hope during the holidays. This year's theme: Elf Vegas! On-lookers will be dazzled by the Marshmellagio, Hoofer Dam, the M&M Grand and more candy goodness on Elf-Vegas Boulevard.
