The biggest night of the year is quickly approaching for many high schoolers – the sparkly right of passage known as prom. While the dress, the tux and the corsage are important, don’t forget about accessories. Just because the dress is long doesn’t mean the shoes can be ugly! NorthPark Center should be your first stop when shopping for prom shoes. Our favorites are from our new Steve Madden store, Bakers, BCBGMAXAZRIA and Macy’s. (Psst…Bakers is currently have a buy one, get one 50% off sale!)

Macy’s Enzo Angiolini ‘Brien’ $120, Macy’s ‘Tara’ $129, Bakers ‘Cacey’ $69.95, BCBG Max Azria ‘Jive’ $225, Steve Madden ‘Marnee’ $99.95, BCBG Max Azria ‘Opia’ $195, Macy’s Rampage Wedges $49, Bakers ‘Tariff’ $69.95, Steve Madden ‘Realove’ $79.95.

But with beautiful shoes can come serious pain. If you’re prepared, you won’t have to ditch your heels on the dance floor. Here are our tips for lasting all night in your fabulous shoes!

Practice makes perfect. In the weeks leading up to the big event, walk around your house every afternoon in your heels. Take them out to the street or driveway and dance around a bit – this will scuff up the bottoms and make them less slippery. The more you can mold the leather to your feet, the lower the risk of blisters.

Put a spring in your step. There are lots of pads and cushions available specifically for women’s heels. Stick a gel version in the bottom of the shoe to relieve the ball of your foot, where most of your weight will be throughout the night.

Fashion first aid. When packing your clutch for the night, don’t forget to slip in some band-aids. If you start to feel a blister forming, cover it up immediately. The longer you wait, the worse it will be. It’s always good to have a few extras on hand for friends. Rubbing lip balm on the area also eases the friction between the shoe and your skin.
