Luxury accessories brand Longchamp has a new face – it girl Kendall Jenner – and a new handbag collection designed for women on the move.

The world’s highest-paid model debuts in September magazine ads for the Parisian house, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

Jenner’s “unwaveringly confident poise” made her the ideal candidate, notes artistic director Sophie Delafontaine.

“Longchamp is an international brand that has maintained momentum and energy across the decades,” she says. “Kendall shares the values of championing effortless worldliness and of celebrating a global, versatile sense of style much like Longchamp.”

The company’s new Amazone leather handbag collection epitomizes the same spirit.

Offered in three sizes ranging from 20- to 30-inches wide, the messenger-style bag can be carried by hand, on the shoulder or across the body thanks to a convertible chain topped by a leather strap.

A saddle buckle pays subtle tribute to Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, the brand’s namesake.

The leather bags come in solid black or ballet pink plus a python print in dusty, blush or coral pink and gray with white. It closes with a concealed magnetic clasp.

Longchamp was first a tobacconist whose leather-wrapped pipes were popular with Allied troops stationed in Paris after World War II.

When the soldiers departed, owner Jean Cassegrain expanded into men’s leather goods and later added women’s accessories.

The turning point was his invention of lightweight nylon canvas luggage and handbags in the 1970s.

That led to Longchamp’s iconic handbag, Le Pliage, a trapezoidal bag elevated by a leather flap and handles. That classic now also comes in a rainbow of canvas colors and prints plus leather, and Le Pliage collection includes backpacks, travel bags, cosmetic pouches and more.
