Here at NorthPark, we love learning about our rich history through old photographs. With our 50th anniversary approaching, we’re even more focused on finding vintage gems to illustrate our legacy. This snapshot was taken in 1967, just two years after the shopping center opened. In many of the photographs we find, everyone is dressed to impress, sporting popular and decade-defining styles.

I was immediately drawn to the photo above because these two collegiates look and dress astonishingly similar to my friends now. The saying “what goes around, comes around” certainly applies here. I set out to find modern-day versions of both outfits from our retailers. The task was even easier than expected!

Left: J.Crew Men’s Shop Secret Wash Short-Sleeve Shirt in White ($64.50), Sunglass Hut Ray-Ban Original Wayfarers ($174.95), Robert Graham Journeyman Shorts in Deep Navy ($98), Cole Haan Pinch Grand Penny Loafers ($168)

Right: Lacoste L.12.12 Original Cotton Pique Polo in Black ($89.50), 7 For All Mankind Chino Shorts in White Sand ($128), Rockport Beach Affair Sandals ($70)

We posted this photo on our Instagram account (Link: https://instagram.com/northparkcenter/) and our followers were delighted to see that not much has changed over 50 years. For more glimpses into NorthPark’s vibrant history, follow us every Thursday for a new “Throwback Thursday” post each week.
