Winter 2011

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk
Opening November 13
NorthPark Center is proud to sponsor The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, opening at the Dallas Museum of Art on November 13. The exhibition will highlight Gaultier's selection of 130 ensembles for women and men spanning over 35 years from the designer's couture and ready-to-wear collections, along with their accessories, and numerous archival documents. Dallas is the first of only two U.S. cities on the international tour. Tickets are on sale now. For more information, visit DallasMuseumofArt.org.

Spaghetti Eddie presents super fun songs that will show children how to say "Please" and "Thank-you", and how to deal with bullies and let them know that peanut butter and jelly, and meatballs and spaghetti, go great together -- like you and me!   This FREE, fun-filled activity program is designed for elementary school age children and takes place at 2:00 pm in NorthCourt which is located between Macy's and Nordstrom.

Debbie Day of Xtreme Kidz Ntertainment presents the little French girl Madeline who teaches the children all about the color blue. This FREE, fun-filled activity program is designed for pre-school children and takes place at 10:30 am in NorthCourt which is located between Macy's and Nordstrom.

MoMeYoga is presented by Stefani McMurrey Watters, a Cooper Institute and American Power Yoga trained teacher.  Mothers and infants will have fun learning yoga basics along with singing classical nursery rhymes and tunes.  This activity program takes place at 10:30 am inside Bookmarks, which is located between XXI Forever and LOFT, beneath AMC NorthPark 15 theaters.

First Ever Big D's "Big News" Cupcake Wars for Charity

January 21, 2012 
Gene and Julie, co-hosts of The New 103.7 Lite FM/KVIl will emcee the first ever Big D's "Big News" Cupcake Wars on Saturday, January 21 at NorthPark Center in NorthCourt on Level One. Hosted by Sprinkles Cupcake's Dallas bakery, the confectionary contest will determine which local personalities' charity will take home a $5,000 grand prize.  Gene and Julie will kick off the event with a preliminary Q&A round, and each team's answers will be factored into final scores.  The following contenders will then have 30 minutes to frost, decorate and creatively display cupcakes in the spirit of their organization: 

     Roni Proter of The CW 33 for Hunger Busters 

     Clarice Tinsley of KDFW-TV for Girls Scouts of Northeast Texas 

     Amy Vanderoef of WFAA-TV for Hold the Door 

     Brittany Cobb of Daily Candy for Make-A-Wish Foundation®

     Maxine Trowbridge of PinkMemo for Fashion Group International

     Meredith Land of KXAS-TV for LIVESTRONG. 

Founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes and judge of the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" Candace Nelson will join fellow judges Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Editor-at-Large for "Southern Living Magazine", Barneys New York Concierge Jackson, and Owner & Pastry Chef Toni Rivard will choose one winning team to receive a $5,000 donation to their charity.  Sprinkles Cupcakes will also donate $1,000 to the remaining organizations. 

The event is open to the public, so sugar-aficionados and spectators are welcome to cheer from the sidelines while DJ OB-JEN & JUICE provide sweet music.  Nelson and competitors will meet and greet with the crowd starting at 3pm, and the Cupcake Wars will kick-off at 3:30 pm.

Jim Gill, a musician and author with unique credentials among children's artists, presents "Music for Play!".  Jim is a child development specialist, completing his graduate studies in child development at the Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play.  For this reason, each of Jim's recordings and books is created as an opportunity for playful interactions between a child and a caring adult.  Over the years, Jim has shared his expertise and ideas on music, play and literacy with organizations such as Head Start, The National Association for the Education of Young Children, The National Association for Family Child Care and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  Come See Jim Gill -- LIVE!!!! The Junior League of Dallas' Annual Community Volunteer Fair at NorthPark Center

February 18, 2012 
Members of the Dallas community, along with Junior League of Dallas members, have the opportunity to connect with the charitable agencies that the JLD supports and to sign up for volunteer commitments for 2012 at the annual Community Volunteer Fair from 10am to 4pm.  At 1pm in NorthCourt, the JLD Community Grant Presentation sponsored by Bank of Texas will announce the distribution of more than $1 million in funding and more than 65,000 volunteer hours for the coming year.  In addition, children can enjoy "Kids in the Kitchen" activities thanks to sponsor UnitedHealthcare, including recipes, nutrition and fitness tips, plus giveawatys.
