The Spy Adventure Clue Hunt!

May 22 - August 31, 2009
To bring home the lessons of the mysterious and daring world of spycraft, NorthPark Center and the Museum of Nature and Science invite kids of all ages to join in a sprawling "Spy Adventure" comprised of virtual and real-world espionage activities!  A spy-themed Clue Hunt will take those who choose to accept the mission on a real-world spy search...games, clues and activities will be everywhere at NorthPark Center. 

Junior spies will also want to follow the action on the internet as clues can also be found on different web sites including northparkcenter.com.  For more information about the Spy Adventure clue hunt or the Science of Spying exhibit at the Museum of Nature and Science, find the link on the home page of this website.

"Hurray for the U.S.A. with Patriotic Patty" is a wonderful educational patriotic show featuring puppets Uncle Sam, Keisha and Elmer presented by Margaret Clauder. This show will educate children on the meaning of many symbols of America including the flag, Statue of Liberty and the American Eagle.  This fun-filled activity program is designed for preschool-age children and takes place at 10:30 am in NorthCourt between Nordstrom and Macy's.

You are invited to NorthPark's beautiful 1.4-acre landscaped garden for FREE, hour-long yoga sessions on Saturday mornings during the summer.  Starting at 9:30 am, these traditional yoga classes will be led by instructors from the nationally renowned Cooper Fitness Center and will emphasize stress reduction, relaxation and flexible strength training techniques.  Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and to bring a yoga mat or towel.  In case of inclement weather, classes will be cancelled. 

Join in a LEGO Mini Model Build!

July 4, 2009

In celebration of the new LEGO Store opening this July in NorthPark Center, a LEGO building will be on-hand on Saturday, July 4th, to assist children ages 6+ in building a special LEGO mini model. After the build, children will be allowed to take their model home -- for free!  Quantities are limited.  This event takes place at 2:00 pm in NorthCourt, located on Level One between Nordstrom and Macy's.

"Wild About Reading with Masai Maggie" features a safari-clad storyteller, puppeteer and ventriloquist who will bring stories to life with a little animal magic as she reads "Stand Back," Said the Elephant, "I'm Going to Sneeze!".  This fun-filled activity program is designed for preschool-age children and takes place at 10:30 am in NorthCourt between Nordstrom and Macy's.

National Piano Institute for Teachers & Young Artists at NorthPark Center

July 10, 2009
On July 6, 2009, Southern Methodist University will host the First Annual Young Artist Competition of the National Piano Institute for Teachers & Young Artists.  20 students from all over the State of Texas at this competition will perform individually on the piano at NorthPark Center on Friday, July 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in NorthCourt between Nordstrom and Macy's.

Special Wine Tasting Event in CenterPark

July 15, 2009

LEGO Store Grand Opening Event & Build

Join in the LEGO Store Grand Opening Event & Build. Master Builder Dan Steininger will use LEGO bricks to construct an eight-foot tall Yoda™ from Star Wars™. Held on Level One in Macy’s Court, the Yoda build is free and fun for LEGO enthusiasts of all ages. Dallas CASA presents "2009 Parade of Playhouses"

August 7-23, 2009
NorthPark Center will host Dallas CASA's Parade of Playhouses once again, showcasing a selection of custom-made, walk-in children's playhouses between Dillard's and NorthCourt.  Designed, built and donated by local builders and designers, the playhouses are displayed to raise needed funds for Dallas CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) to help Dallas CASA expand its capacity to serve children.  Raffle tickets may be purchased for the opportunity to win one of these whimsical playhouses at the raffle drawing held at 4:30 pm on August 23rd.  Dallas CASA is a non-profit organization of trained advocates with a mission to help abused and neglected children in protective care and to help them find safe, permanent homes.

State of Texas Sales Tax-Free Weekend

August 21-23, 2009
Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on the state's annual tax holiday.  Most clothing and footwear priced under $100 is exampt, allowing shoppers to save about $8 on every $100 they spend.  Backpacks under $100 and used by elementary and secondary students are also exempt for the first time this year. The exemption does not include items such as luggage, briefcases, athletic/duffle/gym bags, computer bags, purses or framed backpacks.  Other exempt items under $100 include baby clothes, boots, caps and hats, coats, diapers, dresses, gloves, gym uniforms, hosiery, jackets, jeans, pajamas, pants and trousers, shoes, socks, sweatshirts, sweaters, swimsuits, and underclothes, among others. Komen Dallas Race for the Cure (r)

October 17, 2009
The Komen Dallas Race for the Cure (r) is an annual 1K and 5K fundraising run/walk event held at NorthPark Center.  It is a co-ed race and great fun for the entire family.  The Race is in its 27th year and is part of a national 5K series sponsored by Susan G. Koman for the Cure(r).  The goal of the event is to raise funds, heighten awareness and educate people about breast health as well as to recognize and celebrate breast cancer survivorship.  The Race is the largest fundraising event for local breast cancer screening, treatment, education and research in Dallas County.  This year's Honorary Chair is Dallas Cowboy Linebacker Bradie James. The Emerald City Band will perform after the race.

In-person registration at NorthPark Center is Wednesday, October 14 through race morning.  Participants can also register online at www.komen-dallas.org.  Cost is $35 for adults and $20 for children under the age of 12 for mailed registrations and for in-person registration at NorthPark Center. Prior to Labor Day, registration online is $30 per adult and $20 per child.  After Labor Day, online registration is $32 per adult. 

The Race, celebrating its 15th year at NorthPark Center, will occur rain or shine.  Good Day Saturday on Fox 4 will have extended live television coverage starting at 7am. Race Day schedule is as follows:

6:30 am    Race Day Registration opens inside NorthPark Center

6:30 am    Survivor Breakfast 

7:30 am    1K Walk/Run Start (line up on Boedeker Street heading north) 

8:00 am    5K Walk/Run Start (line up on Park Lane heading west) 

9:30 am    Survivor Celebration and Awards Presentation begins in the North Parking Lot. 

Halloween Concert

October 29, 2009
The Highlander Strings Orchestra from Highland Park High School will perform its 5th Annual Halloween Concert in costume at NorthCourt, located between Nordstrom and Macy's.  Time of the concert is TBD.

Partners Card 2009

October 30 - November 8, 2009
The Partners Card formula is simple!  Individuals purchase a $60 Partners Card from a participating retailer or restaurant, and 100% of the purchase goes directly to benefit The Family Place programs and services for victims of domestic violence in our community. The Partners Card entitles the cardholder to a 20% discount at more than 750 participating retailers and restaurants for the ten-day period.
